We all know that auditioning for shows, bands, etc can be quiet nerve racking. And some people claim that they aren’t nervous when in fact they are. Confidence in key in auditioning but there are quite a few other details that can really help you possibly succeed with your auditions with these tips:
1. CONFIDENCE CONFIDENCE CONFIDENCE, a judge, or anyone along that line will notice if you have this or not. You cannot go in there with your head looking down fidgeting your hands, moving your feet back and forth, you know the deal? lol. Walk in with good posture, smile (genuinely), and just be yourself. A lot of these people can read body language QUITE well. And also remember…as a singer, the stage should be your home! Keep practicing, keep auditioning, and try to get every opportunity to perform out in public, even if its front of people at home.
2. While auditioning with your song, please perform it like its your last day on earth, and MAKE quite a bit of contact with your judges eyes. This is VERY important, this is way to reel them in and make them connect to you.
3. Always, Always, Always articulate and speak clearly when a judge asks you questions and again, look them in the eye.
4. Clothing and appearance: Please dress to impress, but be yourself. Also, from my experience, and some research, wearing bright colors is in your favor (I’m not saying to dress like a parrot lol). But anyway – bright colors tend to make you stick out and you will be noticed more. Never wear all black, or black and white, or very dark colors.
5. SONG CHOICE – this is VERY crucial. You might be able to sing everything. But you must choose a song that is going to fit your voice and “wow” your judges.
